RIDE RAGGED MOUNTAIN

A uniquely Maine experience

Jibe
The main intermediate, multi-directional route that introduces riders to the mountain before they continue higher or descend into the trail network. In 2026, Midcoast Trails Stewardship (MTS) took on the rehabilitation of Jibe, completing carefully designed re-routes, rock-armored stream crossings, tread stabilization, and drainage improvements. The result is a smoother, more sustainable trail that makes Jibe a joy to ride. Jibe begins at the trailhead in Tobogganville.
Dreadnought
The premier difficult downhill flow trail on the Midcoast. This machine-built, hand-groomed trail is a spectacular downhill experience. Aside from 2-3 short steep sections, it's all flowing berms, rollers and tabletops. It has a few rock and wooden features for expert riders, all of which have bypasses Worth the climb up Jibe & Keelhaul.
Round the Mountain Trail
The 6-8 foot-wide, machine-built trail with a mostly graveled trail surface is perfect for running, non-technical mountain biking, or moderate hiking and walking. The multi-use trail, open to bikes and foot traffic (closed to horses and motorized vehicles), is currently a 6.5 mile long out-and-back trek with 900 feet of elevation, but it offers numerous connections to other hiking and/or mountain biking trails. It can be accessed from two trailheads: Camden Snow Bowl and Thorndike Brook located at 223 Hope St, Hope. The trail from Thorndike Brook trailhead provides the smoothest surface and most gradual accent for biking or walking. The trail from the Snow Bowl is bumpier and steeper, ascending the mountain along the Kuller Loop.
Goose River Trail Network
A 6 mile network of winding single track that offers technical but flatter and more moderate riding. Access trails from the Camden Snow Bowl via the difficult and difficult G% trail or bike along Barnestown Rd. to the Rollins Rd. trailhead. All Goose River trails are open to pedestrians. Coastal Mountains Land Trust manages the Goose River trails in partnership with MCNEMBA (Midcoast Chapter of New England Mountain Biking Association).

Group Mountain Bike Rides

Wednesday in the Woods
Freewheeling Fridays

The Camden Snow Bowl is inviting mountain bikers of all ages and abilities to hit the trails this summer through two weekly community ride programs designed to build skills, foster connections, and celebrate the region’s growing mountain biking community.

Rides depart from the lodge at 6pm. Wednesday night rides are guided by Sidecountry Sports and Friday night rides are guided by MCNEMBA (Mid Coast Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association).

Beginner Groups will focus on fun, skill-building, and easy trails in a supportive, no-pressure environment. Riders who are new to mountain biking or looking to build confidence on the trails are encouraged to join. Intermediate and Advanced Groups will tackle more challenging terrain, faster-paced riding, and advanced trail features, providing opportunities for experienced riders to push their skills and fitness.

Following each ride, participants are encouraged to gather at Snow Dogs inside the lodge for food, drinks, and post-ride camaraderie.

Riders should arrive with a properly functioning mountain bike, helmet, water, and any personal riding gear they may need. Want to join but don't have a mountain bike? Sidecountry Sports will be open at the Camden Snow Bowl Trailside location during group rides, and hard tail, full suspension and e-mountain bikes will be available for riders to rent. Reservations are required. Please visit Sidecountry's website to see what bikes are available, make a reservation, or call them at 207-701-5100 for more information.
